The form-based code shall provide a regulating plan and a clear set of development standards to secure the shared vision for Airport Boulevard so that both neighborhoods and property owners understand what the outcome will be for any future development.
The City of Austin executed a planning initiative that set standards for redevelopment along a 2.5 mile stretch of Airport Boulevard in Austin.
The project consisted of a study of upper Airport Boulevard to assess current conditions and future trends, an assessment phase, extensive public engagement process, vision workshop, and the development of a conceptual master plan that illustrates an initial vision for the future. The project included development of a Form-Based Code and a blueprint for coordinating future public investments for the district.
UDG provided civil engineering planning services to Gateway Planning, the prime consultant on the project.
