The land offers a unique opportunity to meet the unmet needs of the community and provide a catalyst for economic development and growth for Colony Park.
The Colony Park Master Plan incorporates best practice strategies for sustainable development to create a sustainable and livable mixed-use, mixed-income community in Austin. Sustainable development strategies included:
- energy-efficient building design
- green infrastructure approaches to ecosystems and storm water management
- water conservation and zero waste technology standards
- mobility and healthy, active living
This project was performed under FARR Associates Urban Design Group Joint Venture. Laura Toups, Urban Design Group served as project manager for an interdisciplinary design team of professionals to create a master plan for the development of Colony Park. She collaborated with City of Austin staff, the Colony Park Neighborhood Association, interested stakeholder groups, the Community Advisory Committee, Technical Assistance Group, and relevant boards and commissions to complete a master plan, PUD, Plat and Phase 1 and Construction Plans.
Urban Design Group’s work on this project included facilitating coordination between City Departments, Capital Metro, Austin Travis County Health Services and other public agencies that impacted the success of this project and the surrounding community.
